"I'm not really a folk singer, just an old hippy who writes his own songs" Davy Cartwright
"Davy is selling himself short; for it's my opinion that he's an extremely talented singer/songwriter, who's produced some of the most moving and thought-provoking tracks I've ever heard" - Bill Everatt on Radio Celtica's 'Underground Edition' (www.celticaradio.com).
Frank Hennessey will be playing a track from Davy's new album 'More Like the Sea' on Saturday 31st July (Radio Wales - Celtic Heartbeat)
The song 'Worlds Apart' will be heard on both Radio Basingstoke & Radio UK International at the same time, on Tuesday 10th August at 3am, 11am & 7pm repeated Thursday 12th August at Midnight all British time.
Davy Cartwright
is a softly spoken mellow acoustic singer/songwriter from Llantwit Major in the
Vale of Glamorgan. He was a bit of a late starter as a performer, ("I don’t
like to rush into things…") due to problems with nerves and confidence, finally
making his public debut in July 2003 as half of ‘Steinbeck’s Old Brown Boot’
with Barry blues ace Paul Duggan. He then played in another duo ‘Ivy Salad’
with
“awesome
talent” (Paddy Noonan, founder, Radio Free USA, now IMradio)
“a
dark horse" (Derek Smith, Mabon)
“writes
better songs than Ralph McTell” (Peter Cronin, painter and singer/songwriter)
Davy
is also a trustee of and mentor with Major Music, a local charity giving
musical opportunity to young people.
